Police say a man was shot in the leg in the parking lot of the Tequila Sports Bar on Spruce Street. The person was taken to the hospital where they were treated and released. No arrests have been made in the case, but police did arrest another man at the bar on an unrelated matter. The case is still under investigation.
The Strawberry Festival in Stuart and the Cruise In in Bassett went on as planned, but the rain and threat of rain but a damper on both. Vendors started packing it in an hour before the Strawberry Festival ended, which had been out of strawberries for a couple of hours and the Cruise In was sparsely attended.
With rain, heavy at times yesterday, we can expect a few lingering showers and thunderstorms today for the mountains, otherwise cool high pressure will build in from the east. High pressure will keep our area mostly dry Monday through Wednesday. A frontal system approaches late in the week to bring the next change for rain. After cooler weather today, temperatures will be warm for the rest of the week.
An Axton man died of an apparent drowning in North Myrtle Beach on Thursday. Police say Timothy Eanes, 55, of Axton, was rescued from the ocean just before noon and died at the hospital an hour later. An investigation is underway.
