Luke Thompson on Benedict’s ‘refreshing’ coming out scene in ‘Bridgerton’ season 4

(SPOILER ALERT) Bridgerton season 4 is continuing its reign atop the Netflix charts, having danced its way into its seventh week as part of the platform’s Top 10 TV chart.

Millions of fans are still swooning over Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) love story. There’s a specific moment in the sixth episode of the season that had fans reeling. Sophie reveals to Benedict that her mother was a maid and that her father was Lord Penwood. In return, Benedict shares a secret of his own: he’s been intimate with men in the past.

Thompson spoke to ABC Audio about how these confessions allowed the pair to finally communicate and see each other in new ways. He said one of the reasons he loves the moment is because it is not your usual coming out scene.

“It’s atypical in that, and that’s always been the case with Benedict … sex hasn’t been something he’s ever been particularly scared or worried about,” Thompson said. “Him opening up to Sophie like that feels like something he is doing for Sophie as a gesture of openness rather than to get something off his chest.”

Thompson truly believes Benedict when he tells Sophie he refuses to be ashamed about the confession.

“That doesn’t feel like a cover,” Thompson said. “I think that’s genuinely true. And quite distinctive, I think, for a male character to feel no shame like that.”

The actor said it “feels like it’s a real gesture for Sophie rather than something that he’s trying to sort out for himself.”

“I think that’s refreshing,” he said.

Part 2 of Bridgerton season 4 arrived to Netflix on Feb. 26. All episodes are streaming now.

It’s time to go back to Arrakis.

Warner Bros. Pictures has shared the official teaser trailer for Dune: Part Three, starring Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides.

Denis Villeneuve directed and wrote the script alongside Brian K. Vaughan for the third and final film in his Dune trilogy, based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah.

The trailer opens with Chalamet’s Paul holding Zendaya’s Chani in his arms. The scene takes place many years after the events of Dune: Part Two, and Chani is pregnant with Paul’s child. They discuss what to name the baby.

If it’s a boy, “I would name him Leto,” Chani says, after the late Duke Leto Atreides, Paul’s father. “So he would have the wisdom of his grandfather,” she continues.

The trailer also shows us footage of an ongoing war, including a battle scene where we see our first appearance of Robert Pattinson’s villain Scytale, sporting a platinum blond buzz cut with matching eyebrows.

“The more I fight, the more our enemies fight back. I’m doing the best I can to protect my family. How did father do it?” Paul asks his mother, Lady Jessica, played once again by Rebecca Ferguson.

“Your father never started a war,” she tells him.

Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh and Isaach De Bankolé also star in the film, along with Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Javier Bardem, as well as newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke.

Miley Cyrus sings as Hannah Montana in 20th anniversary special official trailer

Miley Cyrus appears as Hannah Montana in this key art for ‘Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.’ (Disney)

Get the limo out front, because the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary official trailer has arrived.

Disney+ and Hulu have shared the official trailer for the anniversary special, which is set to debut on March 24 — 20 years to the day that the original series premiered on the Disney Channel in 2006.

The trailer starts with Miley Cyrus pulling up to a Disney soundstage wearing her signature blonde Hannah Montana wig.

“Good to be home,” she says as the show’s iconic theme song, “The Best of Both Worlds,” begins to play.

We see clips of Cyrus on stage performing as Hannah, visiting recreations of the sitcom’s sets and being interviewed by Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper.

“What Disney boy did you have the biggest crush on at the time?” Cooper asks, to which Cyrus responds, “Get the tea kettle.”

The trailer also includes a snippet of Cyrus performing “The Climb” while in costume as Hannah. During the emotional song, we see Cyrus interact with her mom and dad, Tish Cyrus-Purcell and Billy Ray Cyrus.

“I love being Hannah. I love being Miley Cyrus. You really taught me how to be who I am,” Cyrus tells her mom. Later, we see her hug her father on the set of the Stewart family’s living room.

“Love you,” she tells him, before he responds, “Best of both worlds.”

Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” Cyrus said in a press release back in February.

“The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of.”

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ reboot no longer moving forward at Hulu

Sarah Michelle Gellar stars in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’ (Getty Images)

The previously-announced Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is no more.

Sarah Michelle Gellar took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal that Hulu has decided not to move forward with the reboot Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale.

“I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me. Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy: New Sunnydale,” Gellar said.

Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman were going to write and executive produce the reboot, which would have been directed and executive produced by Chloé Zhao. Gellar was attached to executive produce and star in the new series.

“I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy’s stylish yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chloé, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you. And this doesn’t change any of that,” Gellar said in her video. “And I promise, if the apocalypse actually comes, you can still beep me.”

Gellar captioned the video with the same parting line, which is a reference to a quote her character, Buffy Summers, said in the original show.

While on the red carpet for the 98th Oscars on Sunday, Zhao told Variety and CNN that she was “not surprised” by Hulu’s decision.

“I had an incredible, incredible time with Sarah, with all the cast and crew doing this,” Zhao said. “Our priority for Sarah and for us has always been to be truthful to the show, to be truthful to our fans. So, things happen for a reason, and we keep our hearts open and we welcome the mystery. And what this might lead us to.”
