Martinsville City Council has advanced a $935,000 Harvest Foundation grant for redevelopment of the former American of Martinsville Plant 10. The city will serve as fiscal agent and pass the money to the Economic Development Authority, with no local match required. Plans call for converting the century-old Lester Street property into a 100-unit mixed-use development with retail and community space. The budget amendment is scheduled for final approval on Aug. 25.
