Coy G. "Bill" Cassell, 82, of Bassett, VA, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023. He was born on February 1, 1941, to the late Otis Claude Cassell and Geneva Craig Cassell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Michael Wayne Cassell and Douglas Eugene Cassell; and two sisters, Shirlene McAllister and Frances Chaney.

Bill was a member of Community Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. He was also self-employed in the logging industry.

Bill is survived by his wife, Bessie Cassell; a daughter, Lori Ann Stone of North Carolina; 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a stepson, Danny Wayne Griffin of South Boston, VA; a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Branch of Bassett, VA; 4 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Donnie Ray Cassell, Jimmy Leon Cassell, Claude E. Cassell, and David Lee Cassell; 2 sisters, Virginia Dale Snow and Patricia Ann Sowers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Cassell Family Cemetery, Egg Farm Road with Pastor David Bishop officiating.
