Dory Carlson has, in her words "graduated to heaven" July 21, 1945 to July 17, 2023.

Join the family for an Ice Cream Social Sendoff on her birthday, Friday, July 21, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm at Sanville Assembly of God, 40 Joyce Road, Bassett, VA 24055.

Dory would not want us to mourn her passing, rather celebrate life. To honor her wishes there will be no service, just a gathering to share memories and tell stories over ice cream and coffee.

Dory's main goal in life was to feed the hungry, people and animals, their bodies as well as their souls. She donated her time, money and energy to many charities and mission works world wide as well as local. Instead, of flowers, she wishes you do the same.

Dory was a nurse at the hospital in Martinsville for 19 years. It was quite impressive to hear how many people admired and respected her work 17 years later. To all of her former colleagues she would say that she highly recommends retirement. She spent much of that retirement putting those nursing skills to work in caring for her own mother at home until her passing.

For Mom, a day with a book, a cup of coffee and her kitty cats, was a day well spent. May we all spend our days so well.

Dory's last words were "Love,Love, Love. I want all my family and church family to know, I love God. I will meet you with Jesus. I need to go home".
