Obituaries

Edith Carroll West Harris, 85, of Collinsville, Va. passed away Friday, June 27, 2025. She was born in Hardy, Kentucky, May 9, 1940, to Chester Foy West and Edith Lee Kirk West.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James West of Stuart, Va. and her sister, Anna Lee Sizemore of Newport News, Va. and one grandson, Matthew Sizemore.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edward Leroy Harris; daughters, Susan Harris Sizemore (Mark) of Midlothian, Va., Sandra Lynn Harris DeHart (Hank), Sharon Harris Anderson (Ricky) and Elizabeth Carol Harris, all of Martinsville, Va.; grandchildren, Michael Sizemore, Devyn DeHart and Lauren Anderson Duggins; great grandchildren, Theodore Sizemore, Kylie Duggins and Karleigh Duggins; also, many beloved nieces and nephews.

Carroll was a great mother and wife who loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved making all kinds of crafts and was an incredible artist who would paint beautiful murals on the walls and ceilings in her house, only to paint over them when she was ready to do another painting. She was also excellent at mastering video games such as Super Mario, which she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to play.

Carroll loved the Lord and was the last remaining charter member of Kearfott Memorial Baptist Church. Years ago, she worked as the bookkeeper in the sporting goods department at K-Mart.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Stegall, Harris and Pruitt Family Cemetery located on Irisburg Road and will be officiated by Reverend Arnold Peters.
