Obituaries

Eleanor Frances Compton, 85, of Kernersville, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023. She was born July 3, 1938, in Ridgeway, Virginia, to the late Ernest Joseph Richard Compton “Pineskinner” and Frances Louise Compton.

Eleanor was a member of Century Park Baptist Church of Kernersville. She loved singing bluegrass music and had her own band, “Collins Sisters”. She loved traveling, and spending time with family and church family. She lived a great life!

She is survived by her sisters, Clarice Margaret Rigney (Herbert), Brenda Shuttz (Bruce), Rosella “Susie” Compton Ciccarone (Ed), and Carol Compton Biggs (Wayne); brothers, Ernest Lee “Peewee” Compton (Gail) and John Wesley Compton (Lisa); and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.
