Janet W. English, 67, transitioned from this earthly life Friday, June 27, 2025, in Martinsville, Virginia. She was born August 22, 1957, in Martinsville to the late Ernest Wagoner and Mary Louise Swain Wagoner.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Ernest “Ernie” Alfred Wagoner, Jr. and Paul Douglas “Doug” Wagoner.

Janet was of the Christian faith and part of the Baptist denomination. After graduating from Martinsville High School, she built a successful 30-year career as an assistant stockbroker. She was an animal enthusiast and was particularly fond of birds, even raising them. Her varied interests included making crafts, perusing yard sales, and enjoying the beauty of the Native American Culture. Janet left an enduring legacy of love for her children. Her life reflected strength and honor. As a single mother, she raised her children well and was faithful in shaping their character.

Janet’s kindness toward others left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Krystal Marie English-Akers (Tracy); son, John Robert English (Victoria Elizabeth English); sisters, Carol Wagoner Dyer (Bill), Pamela Wagoner Kidd (Jerry Kirkham); brother, Jeff Allen Wagoner (Gail); and sister-in-law, Debra Wagoner. She deeply loved her grandchildren and the memories they shared together will not be forgotten by each of them: Kyle Houston Brooks, Christopher English Howell, Tamara Jade Akers, Joshua Douglas Howell, Matthew Caleb Howell, Tilton “Tre” Robert English, Anja Marie Dawn English, Trace Nathaniel Akers, Brynn Elizabeth English, Kamille Marie Akers, and John Rylan English.

There will be a Celebration of Life service to honor Janet’s memory on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
