Obituaries

Lynette Alicia Payne, 45, of Laurel Park Avenue, Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, the daughter of Linda Hodge Payne and Michael Payne.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Odell Hodge and Dora Niblett Hodge, and her paternal grandparents, Joseph Payne, and Mae Erma Payne.

In addition to her parents of the home, she is survived by her aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

Lynette was a member of St. Paul High St. Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Laurel Park High, Class of 1997. Lynette graduated from Patrick and Henry Community College in 2001, and VA State University in 2005. She later received her master's at Liberty University in Human Services. Lynette was employed with Piedmont Community Services for 5years.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 28, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul High Street Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Brown, presiding. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home, 365 Laurel Park Avenue, Martinsville, VA.
