Obituary For Nancy Lee Craig
I gave you, my love; you can only guess how much you gave me, in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown.
Nancy Lee Craig went home to join her beloved, Herman, and heavenly Father on November 7, 2023. Born in Williamsport, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late W. Raymond and Mabel Hose Roof. She was married to the late Lt. Colonel Herman M. Craig for 49 years.
For 27 years, Nancy worked for the Franklin County School Board, both in the classroom and as an assistant to the principal at Snow Creek Elementary School. She was a charter member of the Franklin County Administrative Assistant's Association and served as treasurer for the association for a number of years.
She attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she served on the Board of Trustees and was an active member of the Day Circle of the Women's Missionary Society.
Prior to moving to Virginia, Nancy worked as Certified Dental Assistant in Hagerstown, MD, Washington, DC and Rockford, IL. She was a past member of the Washington County Dental Assistant's Association where she served as treasurer and vice president. She was also awarded state winner of a clinic she presented to over 500 dentists at an annual Dental Conference in Baltimore, MD.
Nancy loved to paint and every year her many friends would look forward to her Christmas card to see which rendition of her many oil paintings would grace the cover of her card. She also liked nothing better than to entertain her "Lunch Bunch Friends" at ANGELWING, her home in Snow Creek.
Left behind to cherish her memory are daughters, Kathryn LeAnn Macco of Emerald Isel, NC, and Karyn Craig Meeks and husband Wayne of Collinsville, VA, grandsons, Christopher Wayne Meeks of Grapevine, TX and Bradley Craig Meeks and wife Brittney of Snow Creek; sister, Patricia Mae Widdows of Fayetteville, NC, brothers, Donald Martin Roof of Tennessee and Raymond Walter Roof of Smithsburg, MD; God-son, Randy Wayne Roof of Williamsport, MD and one very special cousin, Arlene K. Mose of Hagerstown, MD. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Rayetta Elisabeth Pompell of Hagerstown, MD and two stepbrothers, Clyde Edward Roof of Amarillo, TX and William David Bond of El Paso, Tx.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services with Pastor David Deisher officiating. Burial will follow the service at Wingfield Family Cemetery.
