Rodney M. Haynes, 61, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, while doing what he loved to do, hiking at Chimney Rock State Park in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. He was born on July 12, 1962, to the late Morton D. Haynes Jr. and Alma M. Haynes in Martinsville, Virginia. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine M. Haynes, and one brother, Thomas D. Haynes, I.

Rodney was the owner and Chief Executive Officer of NetTax, LLC. Rodney enjoyed hiking, biking, and football, where he was an avid fan of the Washington Commanders, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, and enjoyed watching Major League Baseball, where he was a fan of the Atlanta Braves. Rodney was an excellent provider, where his family was his world. He was a giver at heart and enjoyed doing acts of kindness without expecting anything in return.

In addition to his mother, Rodney is survived by his wife, Vanessa J. Haynes; his daughter, Jordan H. Alley (Steven T. Alley Jr.); stepdaughter, Helen M. Martin (Wayne Martin); two step grandchildren, Dalton Blevins and Callalei Martin; one sister, Deborah M. Haynes; one sister-in-law, Gloria S. Haynes; two nephews, Thomas D. Haynes II (Cathy) and Jospeh M. Haynes (April); three great nieces and nephews, Devyn Haynes, Luke Haynes, and Anna Haynes.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
