Obituaries

Wanda Hairston Crouse, 65, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born June 14, 1958, in Martinsville, to the late Allen Hairston and Rosie Johnson Hairston.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Toby Hairston and James Allen Hairston.

Wanda was a member of New Bethel Christian Church where she was also a dedicated worker. She was a kind person with a beautiful soul, and she loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Vernice Crouse; daughters, Mekela Crouse and Darshelle Verra (John); sons, Vernice Crouse II and Apollo Crouse (Shonita); stepson, Bruce Davis; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Mabel Finney officiating. Burial will follow at Hairston Family Cemetery, 556 Great Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service.
