A pair of fatal crashes claimed two lives over the weekend

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Friday, (Dec 13) at 9:10 p.m. Greensboro Road, at Lee Ford Camp Road in Henry County.

A 2001 Chevrolet Silverado failed to yield the right-of-way while entering Greensboro Road and was struck by a 2015 Audi.

The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Marvin Lee Jenkins, 84, of Ridgeway, Va. Mr. Jenkins was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Sunday, (Dec 15) at 5:25 p.m. on Truevine Road, one quarter mile east of Pig River Road in Franklin County.

A 1997 Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on Truevine Road, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as Heather Rae Thurman, 27, of Glad Hill, Va. Ms. Thurman was not wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
