RZA hopes to emphasize importance of preparation with ‘One Spoon of Chocolate’

Poster for RZA’s ‘One Spoon of Chocolate’ (36 Cinema Distribution)

RZA’s film One Spoon of Chocolate has moved from the 2025 Tribeca Festival to U.S. movie theaters. The film stars Shameik Moore as Unique, a just-released prisoner and military veteran trying to rebuild his life in Ohio, where RZA spent his teenage years. RZA confirmed parts of the story draw from his own experiences in the state.

“There was a lot of corruption in that town that I spent time in, to be quite honest with you,” RZA tells ABC Audio, recalling what he was told following his 1991 arrest and subsequent acquittal. “My lawyer said to me … ‘I fought so hard for you to win your case because I knew this whole town was corrupt and they wanted you to go down, not because of the case, but because of how you look.'”

“There was some experiences there that definitely found its way into the film,” he says, including racism, though RZA clarifies the story is “less about the villains, but more about the hero.”

“Like how about we get a hero like Shameik Moore … who’s trying to find a better life and yet gets to a place where they’re trying to stop their life from flourishing,” he says.

In the film, Unique makes it his duty to physically confront the sheriff and his team who have been targeting Black men. He reads a survivalist handbook, prepares himself for the moment and ends up victorious.

While there are many themes in the story, RZA emphasizes preparation.

“Every man should walk in the world in peace, but he should always be prepared for the war,” he says, before referencing a quote from in the film. “He says, ‘I didn’t win because I was Black or that I was better than you.’ He said, ‘I was better prepared.'”

Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep on returning for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

A sequel? For spring? Groundbreaking.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 brings Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and more back to the roles they first portrayed in the original 2006 film. This new movie, which arrives to theaters on Friday, was “a joy” to make, Hathaway told ABC News.

“It’s the rarest thing in the world to get a call to say, ‘Hey, we’re getting the band back together. We know it’s been 20 years, but we’ve got a cool new sound,'” Hathaway said. “We all listened to it and we said, ‘We agree. That’s cool, that’s new, that’s worth risking the legacy of the first film.'”

That was one of Hathaway’s main considerations when deciding whether or not to do the sequel, she said.

“If it wasn’t absolutely necessary to make this one, if it didn’t push the boundary, if it didn’t bring us somewhere new, just let it be,” Hathaway said.

Streep agreed, saying the entire main cast, including Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, “were all so important by then,” they didn’t have to return to make the film if they didn’t want to do so.

“We didn’t have to come back, if it wasn’t a really good script. If it wasn’t a really good reason to make this movie at this time,” Streep said.

But there was such a reason: to deliver the same joy to audiences that Hathaway described the entire cast felt making the movie.

“To deliver that kind of love of human creativity and everything it is, demonstrated in fashion and great writing and art and all the things that Runway is trying to uphold,” Streep said. “That’s why we did it. It’s just a warm hug.”

See JLo and Brett Goldstein get steamy in the new trailer for Office Romance.

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming rom-com starring Jennifer Lopez and Ted Lasso breakout Goldstein.

The film is “a raunchy romantic comedy about a secret office romance and the trouble two workaholics get in when they start thinking with their hearts,” according to an official description from Netflix.

Lopez stars as the perfectionist CEO of an airline Jackie Cruz in the film, while Goldstein plays her company’s ambitious new lawyer, Daniel Blanchflower.

As the trailer’s description reads, “This is a rom-com that’s not safe for work… but so worth the risk.”

The trailer begins with the pair’s meet-cute on Daniel’s first day of work.

“For most people, work is something that you have to endure. But for me, running this airline, this is the best part,” Lopez’s Jackie says in the trailer.

It’s only after the pair jet off on a destination work trip that things start to heat up between them.

“Do you believe in magic?” Jackie asks Daniel, who tells her, “Honestly, since I first walked into your office, I believe in everything.”

Betty Gilpin co-stars in the film that also features Edward James Olmos, who portrayed Lopez’s father in the 1997 film Selena. He plays the actress’s onscreen father again in this new movie.

Office Romance was written by Goldstein and Joe Kelly and helmed by Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again director Ol Parker. It arrives to Netflix on June 5.

Olivia Rodrigo meets ‘SNL”s own Miranda Priestley in promo for hosting gig

Host Olivia Rodrigo during ‘SNL’ promos on April 28, 2026 (Rosalind O’Connor/NBC

Olivia Rodrigo is the host and the musical guest for Saturday Night Live on May 2, and in a new promo, we are reminded of just how much she’s been involved with the show over the years — in a spoof of The Devil Wears Prada.

In the promo, Olivia tells cast members Andrew Dismukes and Jane Wickline to dismiss the idea that the show will be all about her. She tells them that in order to make “the best show possible,” they should think of her as a “glorified assistant,” noting, “I work for you guys this week.”

Cue cast member James Austin Johnson popping up in full Meryl Streep-as-Miranda Priestly drag and ordering everyone around. Olivia laughs at him, but when he gets annoyed, she explains, “It’s just my first time hosting, so I’m still learning about all these skits.”

“These skits?” James asks, then goes into a speech that parodies Miranda’s “cerulean sweater” speech from the first Devil Wears Prada movie. “OK, you think this show has nothing to do with you, pop star?”

James then starts ticking off the times Olivia’s been referenced by the show, or appeared on it, including the sketch where all the male cast members bond over her song “drivers license” and the 2024 “Tiny A** Bag” sketch.

“So, I find it sort of comical that you think these ‘skits’ have nothing to do with you when in fact your entire career has been turned into sketches by the people in this very room,” he tells Liv.

Before she can respond, someone else says, “Lorne [Michaels] just got here!” and everyone scrambles for cover. “Please don’t tell Lorne about this,” says James before running off.

Stylist says she’s the inspiration behind the character Emily in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’

Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2.’ (20th Century Studios)

A New York City-based stylist says she believes she’s the real-life inspiration behind the character Emily Charlton from the popular book The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger.

The character was played by Emily Blunt in the 2006 film of the same name, the predecessor to the forthcoming sequel, which also stars Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

Leslie Fremar, an assistant at Vogue in the 1990s, appeared on a recent episode of The Run-Through with Vogue podcast. She shared with host Chloe Malle — Vogue‘s current head of editorial content — how she learned of the character and Weisberger’s 2004 book.

“I get a call from Anna [Wintour’s] office saying that she wanted to see me. I was petrified, but she said, ‘Who’s Lauren Weisberger?’ And I said, ‘She was your junior assistant,’ and she’s like, ‘Well, she wrote a book about us, and you’re worse than me,'” Fremar recalled.

“I definitely told her a million girls would kill for the job,” she added.

Streep portrayed the fictional Runway magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly in the original film, a character widely believed to be inspired by former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Hathaway played Miranda’s second assistant, Andrea Sachs, and Blunt played Miranda’s first assistant, Emily Charlton.

A sequel, called The Devil Wears Prada 2, is set to be released in theaters on May 1.

Fremar said after she learned about the book and what Weisberger had written, she felt “betrayed,” but never spoke to Weisberger again after their time as co-workers ended.

“There’s nothing to be said,” Fremar added of what she might say if the two ever meet again.

ABC News has reached out to Weisberger through her publisher, Random House, for comment.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and 20th Century Studios.

“I’m thrilled to get to tell this story with the genius Claire Danes,” Treem says. “We’ve been looking for something to do together for a very long time, and this character, Annika, is perhaps a mix of both of our wildest dreams.”

Danes is the only cast member who has been confirmed so far. She’ll also executive produce. A release date has yet to be announced.

Danes previously starred opposite Matthew Rhys in the Netflix miniseries The Beast in Me.

Michael B. Jordan joins Elmo for a chat ahead of upcoming animated film ‘Swapped’

Michael B. Jordan on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ (Disney/Randy Holmes)

If your kids can’t wait to hear Michael B. Jordan voice Ollie in the new movie Swapped, they can catch him chatting with Elmo in a new video from Sesame Street.

Now available on Netflix and PBS Kids, the clip features Michael asking “Elmo B. Monster” a few questions because “questions is the best way to get to know someone.”

“I think it’s so important to get to know the people around you. Like your neighbors, local workers, teachers, store owners, people in your community,” Michael says, before Elmo chimes in, “the people in your neighborhood.”

“Asking questions and making connections is the best way to learn about new cultures, music, food and so much more,” Michael adds. “We could really learn a lot from each other, Elmo.”

He then asks Elmo questions, including: What’s it like being a monster? What are some of the things monsters like? Why don’t monsters wear shoes? And what kind of ice cream do you like?

“By asking questions, we can find out that even though we’re different, we have a lot in common,” Elmo says, after discovering they both love cherry vanilla ice cream.

Elmo then flips the script and asks Michael for a hug, before they head off to get their favorite ice cream.

Swapped arrives in theaters on Friday.
