City Council held a regular meeting Friday afternoon where they held a public hearing to accept names for two upcoming school board vacancies. The five-person board is appointed by council and the seats of School Board Chair Yvonne Givens and School Board member Cody Williams expire on June 30. Givens’ name was mentioned for reappointment along with the names of Michael Kirby, Kathy Carter and Tony Jones (a former school board member). Council will interview each candidate before making a decision.
