Sameer Suhail, 47, has been charged with six counts of wire fraud, six counts of aiding and abetting embezzlement, and two counts of money laundering.
Suhail was president and CEO of Foresight Health, the company that bought the shuttered Patrick County Hospital with plans to reopen it.
The charges were the result of a federal investigation involving $15 million in embezzled money from a Chicago hospital.
