Obituaries

Albert Stevenson Canty, 64, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born November 29, 1958, to Sallie Canty Croslin and the late Albert Canty.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Canty; and brothers, Michael Carr and Tony Hilderbrand.

Albert was of the Christian faith and attended Mercy Crossing in Martinsville. He served as an usher for the church as well as sang in the choir. He loved to attend worship. He also had an associate degree in business management from the National College. He loved baseball and football and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Albert loved his family dearly, especially his grandbabies. He was employed for 5 years at PSSI Sanitation.

He is survived by his wife, Milette Canty; mother, Sallie Canty Croslin; daughters, Moneka Warren, Brittany Morton, and Porisha McDonald; sisters, Sarah Canty, Rhona Crutchfield, Jeri Elaine Gough, Vickie McKinnon (Aron), Christy Canty, and Felicicie Galloway; brothers, Christopher Canty, Timothy Hilderbrand, and Jerel Canty; and grandchildren, JaQauvis Farmer, TaMori Farmer, JaCion Wright, Andrew Wright-Graham, Amora Elliott, and TaMora Elliott.

The Memorial Service will be Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
