Betty Jean Muncy, 83, of Martinsville, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, peacefully at Hospice of Rockingham-Gibson. She was born on September 27, 1939, to the late Noah Arthur Keen and Mandy Evans Keen in McDowell County, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coeburn; daughter, Donnetta Darlene Muncy; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Marie Muncy; sisters, Maude Mullins, Nina Mitchell, and Mattie “Frankie” Ward; brothers, Truman Keene, Estel Keene, Lawrence Keene; and Franklin “Dee” Keene; and six infant siblings.

She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was the last of her generation.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Charlene Hale (James) and Arlene Gonzalez; son, Eugene Muncy (Arlana); granddaughters, Tabitha Curell (Chris), Regina Robertson (Marshall), Amber Corns, Christina Fowler (Jon); grandsons, Joshua Hale (Joyce), Jacob Hale (Tiffani), Fernando Gonzalez, and Justin Muncy (Angela); great-grandchildren, Hunter, Natalyn, and Colton Corns; Abby, Lacey, and Seth Muncy; Jaxon, Delta, and Ryder Robertson; Samantha and Matthew Curell; Cory, Jessica, Timothy, and Michael Fowler; Ezra and Nathan Hale; and a host of other family and friends.

She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Pastors Danny & Susan Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be private.
