Obituaries

Bobby Leaton Williams, 84, of Bassett, Virginia died on December 2, 2022. He was born October 26, 1938, in Henry County, Virginia to the late Thomas Leaton Williams and Bessie Mabel Greer Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Peggy Turner Williams, daughter Linda Darnell Williams Franklin, grandsons Justin Leaton and Dustin Anderson Williams, sisters Pauline Williams Hall and Virginia “Tootie” McMillan.

Bobby was a member of Community Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. National Guard and retired from Dupont. Bobby never ate a hotdog he didn’t like, he enjoyed attending auctions, was an antique enthusiast, father figure to many, and will be missed by all.

Bobby is survived by son Stanley “Pete” Williams and daughter Melissa L. Willard, grandchildren Tonya Ratcliff, Joshua Clark, Staci Williams, Wesley Harris, Kyle Brooks, Tamara Akers, and Montana Willard, along with great-grandchildren Raine Ratcliff, Ethan Ratcliff, and Cloey Ratcliff, his brother Carson Williams and sister Jackie Mize.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Bassett Funeral Service where a funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm with Rev. Carson Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Henry Memorial Park, in Bassett, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Bassett Funeral Service, P.O.
