Obituaries

Bonnie “Granny” Woolridge Akers, 80, of Martinsville Virginia passed away on Friday November 25,2022 at her home.

Mrs. Akers was proceeded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Akers; daughter, Gaynell Cannoy; son, J.C. Akers; and grandson, Adam Akers.

She was employed with Tulex and Radial with over 40 years of service. She was of the Christian faith, very selfless, strong willed, fierce, loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook and loved being in the kitchen. She also loved playing in the flowers.

She is survived by her son, Billy Akers and wife Betsy Akers; granddaughter, Erica Westmoreland and husband Douglas Westmoreland; great-grandchildren, Douglas Westmoreland Jr., Camden Westmoreland, Brianna Cannoy; several nieces and nephews, a special friend Douglas Stokes Kidd.

The Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 6:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jeff Rhea officiating. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service.
