Obituaries

Carl McArther Spencer,68, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Sovah Health of Martinsville, Virginia. He was born April 8, 1956, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late John Boyd Foster And Manervia Brim Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Lula Warren, Addie Burgess and Nancy Kellam; brothers, John Spencer, Noble Spencer and William Spencer.

Carl dedicated over twenty-nine years to the furniture industry, Working with Ridgeway Clocks and Henry County Plywood. He attended Drewry Mason High School and a member of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his power chair to Walmart and was a avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, finding joy in their company and the memories they shared.

He is survived by his daughter, Oshanya Spencer; sisters, Willie Mae Penn (Hozer) and Mary L. Mitchell (Thomas); brother, Jerry Brim; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

The funeral will be held Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. A Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service.
