Obituary For Carlton Eugene "Gene" Eanes III
Carlton Eugene “Gene” Eanes, III, 46, of Collinsville, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 25, 1978, in Roanoke, Virginia to Deborah Cunningham, and his dad Gino Cunningham, and biological father Carlton Eugene Eanes, Jr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carlton E. Eanes, Sr. “Blimp”; his aunt Nancy Dee Eanes; maternal great grandparents, Jack and Rachel Jennings; grandparents, Linda Hensley, and James Lewis Marshall “Daps”; aunt, Kathleen Hall; and his son Holden Eanes.
Gene was an affectionate dedicated, and hardworking man who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was known for his compassionate nature, giving spirit, and witty sense of humor. He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. Before his passing, he worked as a press operator at EPL, America in Danville, Virginia. Gene’s personality brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered, and his passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved him.
Gene’s memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on for generations to come, inspiring those around him with his kindheartedness, generosity and unforgettable spirit.
In addition to his parents, Gene is survived by his wife of 22 years, Alisha Kay Eanes; sons, Logan Mann, Hunter Eanes, and Liam Eanes; brothers, Shane Cunningham (Samantha) , and James Carl Hensley, Jr. “Jimbo” (Michelle); sisters, Amanda Perdue, and Autumn Cunningham; mother-in-law, Kay Witt; brother-in-law, Nick Jackson; uncle Danny Hensley; Aunt Martha Eanes Matherly; Paternal grandmother, Carolyn Eanes, great uncle, Clinton Jennings (Carol); nephews, Tyler Hensley, Gavin Trent, (Dakota), and Bryce Byrd; niece, Peyleigh Willis; granddaughters- in- love, Karleigh, Gabriella, and Layni Brown; and long-term best friends, Kevin Byrd, and Brad Lowery.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, January 3, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Friendly Worship Center with Palmer Lowery officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
