Obituaries

Carol Haynes Wells, 81, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on April 3, 2025. She was born on October 16, 1943, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Levi Haynes and Catherine Earles Haynes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Otha Wells.

Carol worked at Globman's until they closed. Afterwards, she began working at Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Accounts Receivable. Outside of work, Carol found joy in her gardening, especially her Zinnias and Gerbera Daisies. She spent many nights dancing at Moon’s near Stoneville, North Carolina. She was a loving, friendly soul, and sometimes stubborn, hard-headed, and opinionated, too. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and truly never met a stranger. Carol was always there for her family. She loved spending time with them, especially when it came to spoiling her grandsons, because after all, when all else fails, ask Mimi. Her grandsons were her pride and joy. Carol will be missed by all who knew her, but her memory will be cherished by those she left behind.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Wendy Gilley (Wayne); sister, Terri Shell (Bob); grandsons, Matthew Lonnie Gilley (Brianna), Brandon Ray Gilley, Christopher Wayne Gilley, and Tim Wayne Noe; and one niece, Lindsey Cloxton (Kate).

To honor Carol’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
