Obituaries

Evelyn “Deforest” Fretwell, 87, of Bassett, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022, at her home. She was born on January 22, 1935, the daughter of late Gentry Price and the late Snowbell Smith Price. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Fretwell; a son, William Fretwell and a brother, Lee Price.

Deforest was a homemaker, Day Care Provider and retired from Bassett Superior Lines. She was a life long member of Bassett United Methodist Church and Stanleytown United Methodist Church.

Deforest is survived by her daughter, Gail Delello (David) of the home; son John Fretwell of Fork Mountain, 2 granddaughters, Crystal Fretwell and Morgan Fretwell; a great-granddaughter, Amber Fretwell; 4 bonus grandchildren; 7 bonus great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. All other services will be private.
