Evelyn Minnick Duncan, 84, of Bassett, VA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 29, 1939, to the late William Miller Minnick and Mary Lucille McCoy Minnick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Duncan; son, Eric Lee Duncan; brothers, Cecil, Allen, and Warren Minnick; sisters, Mayme Meredith, Lydia Minnick, Nelda Graves, and Alice Minnick

Evelyn enjoyed flowers, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, where she loved worshiping and praising her God, whom she is now in the presence of.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette King (Petey); son, Elwood Duncan (Louella); Grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda, Mark, Dustin; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Hunter Gosnell, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Henry Memorial Park immediately following the service.
