Garry Clinton Nelson, 70, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born December 22, 1951 in Danville, Virginia, to the late Clinton Akers and Viola Williams Nelson. He had been employed by E.I. DuPont for over 24 years and was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School, Class of 1970.

Garry had a love for sweets, old country westerns, and setting up modern-day household gadgets. But his interest in those things couldn’t be compared to the love he had for his wife, Violet, who recently passed. They would have celebrated 47 years of marriage on December 20 this year, but his family feels their reunion in Heaven is the best anniversary gift he could have wanted.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife in October of 2022, Violet Kanode Nelson.

He is survived by his daughter, Candice Nelson Gordon (Blake).

The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
