Obituaries

Gwendolyn Turner Reid, 74, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023. She was born January 25, 1949, to Marie Koger Turner and the late Charles E Turner, Sr.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Turner, Jr.; and son, Phillip R. Reid.

Gwendolyn was a member at Mount Olive East Christian Church. She was a 1967 graduate from G.W. Carver and a 1968 graduate from Winston Salem Business College. She worked for the American Furniture Company for nearly 20 years and was also a co-owner of GG&C.

She is survived by her mother; her husband, Governor Reid; daughter, Theresa Reid; sister, Audrey Faye Penn (Alfred); brother, Alonzo Turner (Shelia); and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Mount Olive East Christian Church with Dr. Kenneth Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive East Christian Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
