Obituaries

Hilton “Buck” Martin, Jr., 76, of Axton, Virginia, passed away, Monday, April 1, 2025, at his residence. He was born July 20, 1948, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Hilton Martin, Sr. and Lottie Watkins Martin.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Joe Lewis Watkins and Joseph “Beula” Martin.

Buck was a member of Mt. Sinai Apostolic Holiness Church, a man who lived with heart, humor, and dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment he carried with honor throughout his life. He spent twenty years as an over-the-road trucker, embracing the independence of the open road. He was a graduate of Laural Park High School and a lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan. Buck found joy in dancing, cooking, relaxing on the porch, and spending time with his family. Known for his smooth talking and natural charm; especially when talking with the ladies, Buck had a gift for making people smile. His vibrant spirit and unwavering love for life will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He is survived by his daughters, Consuelo Martin and Charity Ingram; sons, Victor Martin, Rodney Martin, Jordan Stockton, Gregory Campbell; sisters, Mary Jane “Polly” Martin (Curtis), Mary Elizabeth Waller (Harry) and Isabell Penn; brother, Jesse Herman Martin (Ceila); sixteen grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

The funeral will be Monday, April 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
