Obituary For Howard Creed Guilliams

Howard Creed Guilliams, 70, of Bassett, VA passed away on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was born on August 8th, 1953 to the late Buddy Howard “Taft” Guilliams and Jean Young Guilliams.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon S. Guilliams; son, Randall Guilliams and wife, Sara, son, Tiff Guilliams and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Kohen Creed Guilliams, Haylee Sage Guilliams, Ashton Cox, Rachel Wilkerson, Camden Betton, and Brayden Betton; great grandchildren, Jaxon Cox, Cameron Cox, and Rori Cox. Also surviving are two brothers, Byron Guilliams and Van Guilliams; and beloved dog, Finn.

Creed retired as a Senior Trooper with the Virginia State Police and had the first K9 unit in the area. He served many years as President of Eastern North Carolina/Virginia Divisions of American Services. He was an avid supporter of the Bassett High School Marching Band where he served as President of the Band Booster and as a chaperone on many trips. Creed was also active in the Martinsville – Henry County SPCA. He taught dog obedience classes and helped organize the first SPCA in Collinsville. He was a hard worker who loved his family, especially his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought him so much joy.

Visitation will be Wednesday December 27th, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 28th, 2023 at Norris Funeral Services with Pastor Tom Auker officiating. Burial following the service at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville.
