Obituaries

Jeffrey Wellington Newton, 55, of Bassett, VA passed away Monday, July 3, 2023. He was born September 7, 1967 in Martinsville, VA to Ronnie Jean Newton and Shirley Craig Newton. In addition to mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wellington Newton, Mary Newton, Robert Craig, and Callie Craig.

He is survived by his father, Ronnie Newton; sisters, Tammy Alderman (Robert), and Sandra Boardwine (Kevin); nephews, Brandon Alderman (Tina), Jacob Alderman (Kennedy), and Bradley Boardwine; and great-nieces, Anya Alderman, Aurora Alderman, and Samara Alderman. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville, VA with Sherman Manns Officiating. A visitation at the funeral home will be one hour prior to the service.
