Obituaries

Jessie Wells Stacey, 62, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023. He was born July 6, 1961, in Tuscaloosa Alabama, to the late Ira Graham Stacey and Mary Wilhite Stacey.

Jessie was a member of Mercy Crossing Church of God since 1984. He was very outgoing, and never met a stranger; he had the gift of gab and loved people. He was an aficionado of Alabama football and worked at the stadium in his earlier years with Coach Bear Bryant. He loved traveling, especially going on cruises where he loved to spend his time. Jessie and his loving wife of 43 and a half years renewed their vows four times, to make sure “they stuck together”. He always put God first, family second, and loved his family beyond reason. “Ride or Die, Roll Tide!”

He is survived by his loving wife, Freda Stacey; sister, Lou Self (William); his Australian Shepeard dog, Piglet, and his cats, Kaly, Prince, and Smokey; niece, Marcy Martin; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The Memorial Service will be Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Mercy Crossing Church of God, 1978 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, with Pastors Jackie Poe, Tim Knuckles, and Jimmy Wood officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
