Obituaries

Kenneth Wayne Clifton, Sr., 78, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was born August 16, 1945, in Bassett, Virginia, to the late Samuel Evans Clifton and Lillie Morrison Clifton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, Doris Geneva Clifton; stepdaughter, Teresa Lynn Rakes; sisters, Judy Robertson, Lucy Lawson, and Getrude; brothers, Libern Clifton, Carlos Clifton, and Gilmer Clifton; and granddaughter, Jennifer Nemeth.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the Army during Vietnam, and he attended Sysamore Baptist Church. He was a very hard worker, and generous person. Kenneth was a very simple man who loved his wife, taking small trips, and enjoying the beach in the summer. He loved taking care of his home and vehicles. He cared tremendously for his family, he loved and provided for his family, making sure they had what was needed.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Wayne Clifton; stepdaughters, Joyce Nemeth (Joey), and Deborah Wilson (Issac); stepson, William Emerson (Kimberly); brothers, Danny Clifton, and Gene Clifton (Shirley); and grandchildren, Christopher Clifton, William Emerson, Matthew Emerson, Katelynn Emerson, April Wilson, Melody Amaya, and Joseph Nemeth.

The funeral will be Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
