Obituary For Levi Harden Mays

Levi Harden Mays, 88, of Ridgeway, Virginia, transitioned to his heavenly home Friday, January 24, 2025. He passed away peacefully at his home where he lived for 64 years. He was born March 28, 1936, in Stokes County, North Carolina, to the late Edgar Mays and Belva Joyce Mays.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Maynard Mays and Leroy Mays.

Levi faithfully attended Horsepasture Christian Church, his home church since his marriage to his loving wife of 69 years. He was dedicated to his job as a truck driver, working for Virginia-Carolina, Bassett Furniture, and Henry County Pallet, but found time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. He played for the Old Timers Softball Team for 28 years until he was 80 years old. He was an avid NASCAR fan and particularly enjoyed watching Bill Elliott or anyone who drove a Ford. He loved bluegrass music and often attended bluegrass festivals. Levi found great joy in spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Campbell Mays; daughters, LaJuan Hodges (Warren), Wendy Stanley (Artie), and Holly Rhea (Walt); four grandchildren, Jamie Hodges Parcell (Jason), Claire Gardner Legaspi (Larry), Benjamin Campbell Gardener, and Bailey Levi Stanley; and two great grandchildren, Lindsey Bree Wilson and Taytum Gray Parcell.

The funeral will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Horsepasture Christian Church with Kyle Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Levi Harden Mays to Mountain Valley Hospice at PO Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina, 27017 or Horsepasture Christian Church Missions at 1146 Horsepasture Price Road, Ridgeway, Virginia 24148.

Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
