Mabel Ruth Turner Frith, 87, of Martinsville, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 at Mulberry Creek Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born in Rockingham County, NC, on December 13, 1937 to Basil Hartwell Turner and Ruth Hubbard Turner. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her brother, retired U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Paul H. Turner (Doratha "Dutter"), and a daughter Deborah Sue Woodward.

Mabel was a graduate of Bassett High School and also graduated from the Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She served for many years as a Private Duty Nurse helping families with their health care. She also worked for the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation helping the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Surviving are two sons, Taylor W. Frith of Suffolk, VA and Jeffrey B. Frith (Barbara) of Norfolk, VA, and one granddaughter, Zoe A. Frith.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
