Obituaries

Marvin Webster Millner, 84, of Ridgeway, Virginia, transitioned from his earthly home on Saturday, April 5, 2025. He was born August 12, 1940, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Joseph R. Millner and Effie J. Gravely Millner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas J. Millner; and a host of brothers and sisters.

Marvin retired after 25 years of service at Redd Level American Furniture of Martinsville, where he was a foreman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, old cars, and he liked wood working. He also loved his family very much and treasured the time he spent with them. He attended Galilean House of Worship.

Left to cherish Marvin’s memory is his loving wife, Bernice Preston Millner; daughter, Kimberly Preston-Scales (Derek), sons, Marvin L. Millner, and Troy W. Millner; bonus dad to, Shiryl Seay-Gravely (Bishop Joe Gravely), Thelma Hairston (Sebastian) , and Carolene Marshall (Keith) ; sister, Effie O’Neil West; brother, Lonnie Millner( Daisy); four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Friday, April 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service with Bishop Joe N. Gravely officiating. Burial will be private.

At other times the family will receive friends at 8538 Axton Road, Ridgeway, Virginia.
