Michael O’Keith Spencer, 62, of Martinsville, Virginia, departed this life on Wednesday, November 16, 2023.

He was born on December 25, 1960, a son of the late Robert Lee “RL” Spencer and Ruby Hairston Spencer.

Michael was raised in the Carver community and spent the majority of his adulthood employed at Doyle Lumber Company/Pine Products and then at Walmart before becoming disabled. Although a generally quiet man, he was a natural story teller and kept his family and friends laughing with funny stories of his life experiences.

Those left to cherish his memory include: fiancé Hassie Yvonne Fitzgerald; special family member, Stephanie Coleman; three brothers, Robert Spencer of Greensboro, and Wesley and Jeffrey Spencer of Martinsville; three sisters, Carolyn Jones, Valerie Harper, and Estelle Spencer of Martinsville. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends who will treasure the many stories that he shared.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 12:30pm at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with Dr. Sandra Trotter officiating. Visitation willl be 30 minutes prior to the service.

At other times, the family will receive visitors at 140 Swiftwood Drive, Martinsville, and 117 Village Street, Martinsville.
