Obituaries

Mildred Louise Hinson, 60, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at her residence. She was born May 5, 1962, in Martinsville, to the late Realy Jefferson Thacker and Dolly Turner Thacker. In addition to her parents and grandparents (Dr. Taylor & Anna Harris Thacker and Thomas & Nannie Gray Turner), she was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Martin.

Mildred was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School, class of 1980. She worked in the insurance field for more than forty years, holding licensures in Life, Health, Annuities, Property and Casualty. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord. She loved to sing. Beginning in her teenage years and into her early twenties, she traveled and sang with her best friend, Lou Ann Tucker, with the Gospel Melody Singers. In 1990, she and Eric Hinson were married, and shortly after, she began singing with him and the Carolina Hinson Family. In addition to their evangelistic music ministry, she served alongside Eric pastoring and leading praise and worship for over twenty years. She was a wonderful woman of God, very kind, loving, and always had a smile on her face. She loved to laugh. Above all, Mildred was a prayer warrior, always praying and believing for others.

She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-two years, Eric Hinson; son, Eric Michael Hinson (Candice); sister, Anna Samra; sisters-in-law, Karen Hinson, Martha West (Robert), and Angelia Hinson; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Martin and Mark Hinson; nieces, Danielle Charles (James), Hannah Royal (Corey), Sarah Haywood (Chris), Nichole Feigl, and Ashley Ivey (Robert); nephews, Shane Kramer (Cielo), Robert West III (JoAnna), Jon West (Jaclyn), Ryan Martin (Tami), and Jonathan Martin; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 1:00 PM at First Assembly of God Church, 1739 Harrington Highway, Eden, North Carolina, with Pastor Nathan Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 119 North Bunker Hill Road, Colfax, North Carolina 27235. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
