Obituaries

Odell Luther, 86, of Fieldale, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 24, 1935 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late James Olen Luther and the late Lola Myers Luther. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Luther; daughter, Donna Kay Luther; brothers, James Clinton Luther and Kennard Wayne Luther; sisters, Frieda Richardson, Ineda Hart and Nancy Motley.

Odell was retired from Stanley Furniture Company, and he was of the Methodist faith. He loved and rebuilt antique cars and a member of full Throttle Cruisers. He also loved wood working and he built guitars, fiddles, furniture and grandfather clocks.

Odell is survived by sons, Benjamin Odell Luther, Jr. and James Thomas Luther (Lisa); grandchildren, Adam Luther (Jessica), Emily Earles (Brandon) and Cody Luther; great grandchildren, Ben Luther and Emma Luther; brothers, Homer Luther and Dennis Luther (Faye); sisters, Lois Edwards and Janice Wilson (Dewey).

The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2022 at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the funeral service at Henry Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stepping Stones 600 Northside Drive, Martinsville, VA 24112.
