Obituaries

Patrick Homer Wright of Collinsville, Virginia met Jesus on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Mulberry Creek Nursing and Rehab in Martinsville. He was born March 22, 1967 in Stuart, Virginia to Clarence Chester and Elsie Foley Wright. Patrick loved his church, his family, and friends. As a familiar figure around Martinsville, he was known for his regular attendance at community events. He rarely missed a church service and was also a frequent visitor of the library, YMCA, and Natural History Museum. During the Christmas season, he was known to wear a Santa suit around town in hopes to bring a smile to anyone he met. Other times of the year, he would share stories about the bible, history, superheroes, martial arts, and, of course, beards. Pat enjoyed living on his own in recent years at Spruce Village in Martinsville. He developed many friends with fellow residents and staff. One of his goals was to complete the GED requirements and he would be elated to know that an honorary degree will be awarded posthumously.

Survivors include his sister, Susan McGregor and her husband Alan of Collinsville; his niece, Shannon and her husband Matthew Smith; his nephew, Scott and his wife Megan McGregor; two great nieces, Scarlett and Shelby, and two great nephews, Liam and Davis.

The family will receive friends at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00 PM with Reverend Travis Cassell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
