Robert Byron Sparks, 76, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was born September 28, 1947, in Stoneville, North Carolina to the late James Byron Sparks and Della Lee Gilley Sparks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Bud Sparks (Anita).

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army and was baptized at 1st Church of the brethren, Eden, North Carolina. He loved basketball, especially the UNC Tar Heels. He enjoyed watching western shows and NASCAR, listening to his favorite singer Elvis Presley, and going on cruises in his early years. He loved his dog Jodie, like his child.

He is survived by his daughter, Diane Burgess; sister, Jean Martin; and grandchildren, Ryan Burgess, and Gabriel Belcher.

The memorial service will be Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
