Obituaries

Robert Lee Phillips, 69, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was born January 21, 1954, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Reverend Kirby Lee Phillips and Mary Crawford Phillips.

Robert proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard and attended Preston Pentecostal Holiness Church. In his free time, he loved fishing, working crossword puzzles, and putting puzzles together. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved Joey Logano.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Gardner Phillips; daughter, Roxie Smerecki (Randy); son, Adam Gardner; brothers, Samuel David Phillips (Margaret), Matthew Dale Phillips, and Mark Allen Phillips (Jennifer); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Jonathan Goins officiating. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
