Obituaries

Rodaliah “Sissie” Rorrer, 78, of Bassett, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, at her home. She was born in Patrick County on February 6, 1945, the daughter of the late Lester Gilley and the late Ellen Gilley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Baliles; sister, Phillis Spicer; and niece, Donna Benfield.

Sissie is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Larry Rorrer; children, Pat Tatum and husband Toby of Henry, Peggy Foley and Husband Darrell of Bassett, Heather Layman and husband Derek of Rocky Mount and David Rorrer of Bassett; grandchildren, Michael Clark, Ryan McDaniel, Bridget Smith, Hunter Foley, Sydney Collins, Nathan Rorrer, Jade Rorrer, and bonus Jordan Draper; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Danny Gilley; sister Brenda Baliles; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Church of the Brethren in Stuart, with Pastor Danny Gilley and Pastor Rick Randall officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Stuart.
