Obituaries

Sandra “Kaye” Knight Edwards, 76 of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 8, 1948, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Emmett Eades Knight and Mary Milnes Collier Knight.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her only grandson, Kameron Knight; sister, Freda Knight; companion of 38 years, Earl Joyce; and brother-in-law, Ken Gilley.

Kaye was the proud owner and operator of Edwards Bookkeeping & Tax Service in Ridgeway where she worked as a dedicated accountant for 59 years. A 1966 graduate of Drewry Mason High School, she went on to earn her degree in accounting from Virginia Tech, where she became a lifelong Hokies fan. Kaye was a devoted member of Wayside Baptist Church in Ridgeway, Virginia, and was known for her deep faith, loving spirit, and unwavering commitment to her community and family. A true pillar of her family, she was admired by all who knew her. She loved to read, adored her grandchildren, and had a passion for travel - visiting over 30 countries and principalities as well as 48 states throughout her life. She loved vacationing and spending time with family at Smith Mountain Lake and Myrtle Beach. Kaye’s legacy is one of love, service, and faith, and she will be remembered for the joy and strength she brought to others.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vanessa Edwards Dryden (John) of Poquoson, Virginia; son, Kelly Knight of the home; sisters, Faye Coe (Terry), Charlotte Gilley; and Betsy Donley (Jody) all of Ridgeway; great-grandsons, Kaleb Knight of Ridgeway, Ryan Knight of Stoneville, North Carolina, and Kalen Knight of the home; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with nephew Terry Christopher Coe officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gibson House Hospice Facility at 2150 NC-65, Reidsville, North Carolina in Kaye’s memory.
