Susan W. Hodges, 79, of Bassett, VA, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Stanleytown Health and Rehab Center. She was born on August 11, 1945, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Harvey Winn and Mildred B. Winn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Clayton Hodges; her sister, Barbara Linkhorn; and her stepson, Michael Hodges.

Susan earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Radford University and dedicated her career to serving others through her work at the Franklin County Department of Social Services. A faithful member of Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren, Susan expressed her love for life through music, especially playing the mountain dulcimer, and cherished attending concerts. She also enjoyed being part of the postcard club at Reynolds Homestead, where she formed lasting friendships.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Matthew Carter (Jinky); her stepdaughter, Karen Griffin; her stepson, James "Jim" Hodges; her step-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody Hodges, and Caleb Hodges; her brother, Philip Winn (Kitty); her dearest friends, Lester and Frances Perdue; and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Susan’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Noel Naff officiating.
