Obituary For Terry Robert Cundiff
Terry was a patient and gentle man a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed hunting (at Appalachian Hunting Club), playing cards, camping, golfing, and playing jokes on everyone.
Terry was born in Ferrum, Virginia, to Sally W. Cundiff and Curtis G. Cundiff. He grew up in Bassett and later made his home in Martinsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Smith; brother, Paul Cundiff; brothers-in-law, Donald Smith and John Bussey; mother-in-law, Dorothy S. Hairfield; and father-in-law, James L. Joyce, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna Joyce Cundiff; son, Todd Cundiff (Amanda, her son Braydon); granddaughter, Haylee Cundiff; brother, Andrew Cundiff (Margaret); sister, Sylvia Bussey; sisters-in-law, Karen Cundiff (Rick) and Melanie Bryant (Rodney); brothers-in-law, Frankie Joyce (Elaina) and Jimmy Joyce (Joyce). Terry was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Terry began working at an early age at G.S. Industries in Bassett, Virginia. He started by changing molds and learning the business from the ground up. He retired as co-owner and Plant Manager after 49 years of dedicated service. He loved his job and had great respect for those he worked alongside.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Commonwealth Hospice—especially Mallory Knight, Laura Swift, and Lori—for their loving care. We are also grateful to the staff at Sovah Hospital in Danville, Virginia, for the exceptional care provided during his stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Edwards Adult Day Care, 431 East Commonwealth Blvd., Martinsville, VA 24112, or to a charity of your choice. A special thank you to Edwards Adult Day Care for the excellent care they provided to Terry over the past year.
We will always remember Terry by his favorite phrase: “LIFE IS GOOD!”
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Rich Acres Christian Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:00 p.m., with Minister Tim Hunt officiating.
