Obituaries

Thomas Bennie Nelson, 65, of Spencer, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Ray Nelson of Spencer.

Tommy was a 1976 graduate of G. W. Carver High School where he was on the golf team and was co-captain of the varsity basketball team. He was a member of Friendly Christian Church in Martinsville. He previously owned a landscaping business.

Tommy is survived by his daughter, Jessica Lucas of Martinsville; grandchildren, Kaden, Kayleigh and Kendall Lucas of Martinsville; mother, Valeria Ann Nelson of Spencer; brother, Ray M. Nelson (Laura) of Midlothian; sister, Joyce Nelson Harville (Timmy) of Dinwiddie; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
