Phoebe Dynevor is joining the Emily Henry rom-com universe.

The Bridgerton actress will star in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel Beach Read, ABC Audio has learned.

Beach Read follows the character January Andrews, a romance novelist who struggles with writer’s block due to her grief after the death of her father and her discovery of the secrets he kept.

January spends the summer at her father’s Michigan beach house as she prepares to sell it. While there, she reconnects with Gus Everett, a fellow author and her formal college rival. The pair spark an unexpected romance after they agree to partake in a writing challenge to get them out of their respective writing ruts.

There is currently no word on any other casting for the film.

Yulin Kuang, who co-wrote the Netflix film adaptation of Henry’s novel People We Meet on Vacation, will direct Beach Read for 20th Century Studios from her own script.

This is the latest adaptation of one of Henry’s works, following the January release of People We Meet on Vacation. Three of her other novels — Book Lovers, Funny Story and Happy Place, are also currently being adapted for the screen.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and 20th Century Studios.

Tiffany Haddish has landed a starring role in a new horror-thriller titled The Lesson.

From American Heist and The Bachelor executive producer JoJo Ryder, the film’s about a devoted teacher whose death sparks a series of events that haunt his former students and eventually force them to confront their past.

“What drew me to The Lesson was how layered it is. It’s not just horror — it’s about choices, consequences, and the things we think we can walk away from. Audiences are in for something unexpected,” Haddish said in a statement, according to Deadline.

She’s set to act alongside Rosario Dawson, who said she’s “looking forward to be working with Tiffany and JoJo.”

Ryder also issued a statement to Deadline, expressing excitement over Haddish and Dawson’s involvement in her movie.

“I’m thrilled to have Tiffany and Rosario join The Lesson,” said Ryder, who wrote the script and is set to direct the film. “They bring intensity, range, and a fearless presence that elevates every scene. This story demands emotional depth as much as suspense, and they deliver both.”

The plan is for The Lesson to begin filming in LA in 2026. Additional casting is currently underway.

The official teaser trailer for House of the Dragon season 3 has arrived.

HBO released the first trailer for the third season of the Game of Thrones prequel series on Thursday. It finds House Targaryen divided as ever, picking up where season 2 left off.

The returning cast includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Bethany Antonia, Jefferson Hall, Tom Bennett, Kurt Egyiawan and Freddie Fox.

At the beginning of the trailer we hear Rhaenyra Targaryen (D’Arcy) say she has been visited by her former best friend and current nemesis, Alicent Hightower (Cooke).

“Alicent came to Dragonstone. She will open the gates of the Red Keep and surrender to me,” Rhaenyra says, before she is advised against trusting her.

We then hear Aemond Targaryen (Mitchell) say that the king has abdicated the throne. “A new line is coming. A new line of unsullied kings,” he continues.

Rhaenyra’s husband, Daemon Targaryen (Smith), calls for her to take the throne.

“You are the Queen of Dragons,” Daemon says. “You have an absolute power within your grasp.”

House of the Dragon is based on George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. The story is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, centering on House Targaryen.

Season 3 of the fantasy drama series is set to arrive on HBO and HBO Max in June.

Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) in ‘Toy Story 5.’ (Walt Disney Studios)

You don’t have to go to infinity and beyond for the Toy Story 5 official trailer.

Disney and Pixar have released a 2 1/2-minute look at the upcoming animated sequel film. Everyone’s favorite toys — including Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and Forky (Tony Hale) — are back in this new look that shows how the toys react to new technology.

The new trailer also shows off how Woody — who decided to leave his caretaker, Bonnie (Scarlett Spears), at the end of Toy Story 4 and live off the grid with Bo Peep (Annie Potts) — reunites with his original toy family.

Set to the classic Randy Newman song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” the trailer finds the gang of toys up against the new antagonist Lilypad. Voiced by Greta Lee, Lilypad is a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet that makes the toys’ jobs more difficult as they compete with this new threat to playtime.

“What are you, some sort of old man toy?” Lilypad asks Woody, who incredulously asks, “What?” in response.

“She thinks you’re old because you’re bald, Woody,” Forky says.

Newly announced voice cast members for the film include Craig Robinson as Atlas, a cheerful talking GPS hippo toy; Shelby Rabara as the excitable camera toy Snappy; Mykal-Michelle Harris as Blaze, an independent 8-year-old girl who loves animals; and Matty Matheson as the tech-fearing toy Dr. Nutcase.

Also announced to return to the franchise are John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, Jeff Bergman as Mr. Potato Head, Anna Vocino as Mrs. Potato Head, Bonnie Hunt as Dolly, Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly, John Hopkins as Mr. Pricklepants, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl and Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom.

Toy Story 5 is directed by WALL-E and Finding Nemo helmer Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris. Newman returns to score his fifth Toy Story film. The movie rides like the wind into theaters on June 19.

Christy Carlson Romano says she tested positive in cancer screening

Christy Carlson Romano has opened up about receiving a positive test result after getting screened for cancer.

The former Disney Channel actress recently took to Instagram to share a video detailing what has happened and reminding others to test themselves for cancer.

“Right now the news is that something is going on. I’m nervous and a bit scared (heck who wouldn’t be!). I’m going in for a PET scan later this week and hopefully it’s something easy to treat,” Romano captioned the video.

She noted that she debated whether or not to share this news publicly before eventually deciding to make the video.

“I debated whether or not I was going to post this because I was afraid I’d come off ‘cringe.’ But I decided it was my duty to share, so that people get out there and get screenings. Let’s keep the good vibes going and I will keep you all posted as I get more information,” Romano wrote.

In the video, Romano said both her parents had cancer.

“My mom beat it. My dad eventually didn’t. My grandmother on my mom’s side had lung cancer and died from that,” Romano said in the video.

The actress said she lives in Austin, Texas, in the community where the late James Van Der Beek resided.

“His family is amazing. He’s a pillar of our community in Texas. They always were raising money for the most amazing charities. And he’s not with us anymore. And cancer is everywhere, which is why I got this test,” Romano said.

Romano’s husband, Brendan Rooney, commented a message of support on her video.

“You got this my beautiful wife. We will figure this out and destroy any problem that comes your way. I love you beyond words,” Rooney wrote.

Hudson Williams to star in mystery thriller series ‘Yaga’

Hudson Williams has found his next project.

The Heated Rivalry star will appear in the Crave original series Yaga. Production is currently underway on the streaming service’s first half-hour original drama series, which also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid and Clark Backo.

Yaga will be based on the play by Kat Sandler, who also serves as the series’ showrunner and writer. Its plot centers around a reimagining of the myth of Baba Yaga. It’s a contemporary mystery thriller that takes place in a small coastal town.

Reid stars as Rapp, a private investigator who arrives in the small town to investigate the disappearance of the young heir to a powerful fishery named Henry Park (Williams). While there, Rapp finds himself at odds with local detective Carson (Backo) and a university professor with a taste for younger men (Moss).

Yaga has evolved from myth to stage to my first greenlit series, reclaiming the wicked witch and reshaping her as an incendiary feminist antihero for our time,” Sandler said in a press release. “It reflects the kind of storytelling I love: propulsive, accessible, dark, funny, and unapologetically bold.”

David Frazee and Rachel Talalay will co-direct the series, while Moss will executive produce. Crave is the same streaming service that produced the hit romance series Heated Rivalry, which served as Williams’ breakout acting project.

Glen Powell wants to make ‘Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants’ with Nick Jonas

In early February Nick Jonas posted a video in which he revealed that, unbeknownst to him, the jeans that he wore on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon — which had been lent to him by the brand — had previously been worn by his friend Glen Powell. He only learned this because in the pocket of the jeans was a used plane ticket with Glen’s name on it. He captioned the video “the brotherhood of the traveling pants?” and now Glen agrees it’d make a great movie.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Glen said Nick FaceTimed him to ask if he was OK with him posting the story. “I was like, ‘That is so random, yes,'” said Glen. “The Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants, we have to make it something. I dunno, I loved it.”

When the interviewer suggested they turn it into a movie in which he and Nick co-star, Glen laughed and said, “Not no! Not no!” He added that Nick’s been very helpful to him while he’s preparing to portray a rock star in an upcoming Judd Apatow film.

“There’s no better friend to have in that scenario than Nick Jonas, that’s for sure,” he added.

Glen was one of the Jonas Brothers’ surprise guests during their show at Boston’s Fenway Park last summer, although he didn’t sing.
