(PHILADELPHIA) — Philadelphia Eagles’ Saquon Barkley and his family are in the spotlight after the star running back shared pregame handshakes with his young children ahead of the NFC championship game between the Eagles and the Washington Commanders Sunday.
Barkley and his daughter Jada and son Saquon Jr. were caught on camera exchanging handshakes and kisses before the Eagles flew to a 55-23 win at Lincoln Financial Field, punching their ticket to Super Bowl LIX.
After the Eagles soared to victory, the Barkley family was all smiles and posed for photos together with the George S. Halas Trophy. The Eagles will head to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years and take on the Chiefs in New Orleans on Feb. 9.
“If I could wrap my arms around this memory, I would…” Barkley’s longtime girlfriend Anna Congdon wrote in a caption after sharing photos from the postgame celebration.
Barkley’s handshakes with his kids have turned into a pregame ritual. The Eagles posted a video of the 27-year-old sharing handshakes with his family in a December 2024 clip on YouTube as well.
Get to know Barkley’s family below.
Anna Congdon
Congdon and Barkley have been a couple since they were students at The Pennsylvania State University. Congdon occasionally shares photos of her longtime partner and their kids on her Instagram. The couple also attended the 12th annual NFL Honors awards ceremony together in 2023 and again in 2024, along with their daughter Jada.
Jada
The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Jada in April 2018. Barkley revealed he picked Jada’s name from a list Congdon created of potential baby names in a 2019 NFL film.
“First and foremost, I’m just honored and blessed that I have a daughter in Jada and [to] be able to enter fatherhood and [I] always gotta try to set the standard for her because her image of a man is gonna be off of me,” Barkley said at the time.
Saquon Jr.
Barkley and Congdom also welcomed a son, Saquon Jr., in 2022. After his birth, Barkley called him a “beautiful baby.”
“He lights up the room. Amazing smile. Jada is being an amazing big sister. Anna, obviously, an amazing mom. We’ve got a beautiful little family,” he said at the time.
(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — Brittany Mahomes celebrated with her husband Patrick Mahomes after the Kansas City Chiefs secured their third consecutive trip to the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Following the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win against the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium — a tight game with a closing score of 32-29 — the couple was seen embracing on the field and sharing a kiss to mark the special moment.
The pair were also showered with confetti in a video shared by the NFL’s official Instagram account.
Brittany Mahomes wasn’t the only loved one cheering on the team during the pivotal game: She was also spotted on the field alongside pop star Taylor Swift and Donna Kelce, tight end Travis Kelce’s girlfriend and mother, respectively.
The former soccer player took to her Instagram story after the Chiefs’ win Sunday night with a message for her husband’s biggest critics.
“Thank you all for your concerns with 15 this season,” she wrote, referencing the quarterback’s jersey number. “See y’all in New Orleans 😎.”
Patrick Mahomes echoed that sentiment in his own Instagram post Sunday, following the game. “See y’all in New Orleans! ⏰,” he wrote in the caption of the post, alongside several images from the game and the team’s celebration afterward.
The Chiefs could become the first NFL team to win three back-to-back Super Bowls if they win Super Bowl LIX. Mahomes has won three Super Bowl championships out of five trips to the big game with the Chiefs.
The celebration marked two weeks since the Mahomes welcomed their third child together, a daughter named Golden Raye, on Jan. 12.
(PHILADELPHIA) — Philadelphia Eagles rookie running back Will Shipley shined on Championship Sunday, forcing an impressive fumble for the birds on a kickoff, followed by his first career touchdown in the final scoring drive of the team’s decisive victory over the Washington Commanders to secure the team’s spot in Super Bowl LIX.
The 22-year-old from North Carolina joined “Good Morning America” live on Monday after the Eagles’ victory and said “it’s crazy” knowing he’s Super Bowl bound.
“So many emotions come with it. It’s been a dream of mine since I knew what football was,” he said. “So to actually be here and to be going down to New Orleans here in a couple weeks and have an opportunity to do so is just unbelievable.”
The Clemson star was the Eagles’ 127th overall pick in Round 4 of the 2024 NFL Draft and has since recorded 82 rushing yards, 30 rushing attempts, 4 receptions on 35 yards with one force fumble and a touchdown in 16 games.
“It was an awesome opportunity. We take a lot of pride in special teams — I was just trying to get a hat on him, get a shoulder pad on him, and just try to get him down or slow him down any way,” Shipley said of the moment before he forced Commanders kick returner Jeremy McNichols to fumble the ball on the return that set up the Eagles on the 25-yard line with 1 minute and 36 seconds to go in the first half.
“It ended up working out where the shoulder pad went right on the football and it came loose. I felt it hit my leg so I was looking down trying to grab it and get it, but it got kicked backwards to Kenny Gainwell,” Shipley said, referring to his teammate, who he said “was able to pick it up and we were able to score again before halftime and then get the ball after half.”
Shipley added, “I think it kind of gave us that momentum back and gave us the ability to carry it into the second half.”
With a commanding lead in the fourth quarter, Shipley had the final scoring play of the night under the lights at Lincoln Financial Field, finalizing the NFC Championship win and notching his first-ever NFL touchdown.
“It’s just a dream come true, you know? And to do it in the NFC championship with my teammates and guys that I love… Saquon [Barkley], that’s someone I look up to and someone that has taken me under his wing since I got drafted to this organization. I just couldn’t be more thankful, couldn’t be more blessed, and just to be able to share that with my teammates, my coaches, my friends and family who were able to come watch the game, is a special moment, one that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
