A motorcycle crash with a deer in Patrick County has claimed the life of a North Carolina man. Edward Zigata, 60, of Shallotte, North Carolina, was traveling north on the Blue Ridge Parkway near milepost 162 when he collided with a deer on June 1. Zigata was ejected and sustained serious injuries. He was flown to Carilion Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries on Saturday, according to the National Park Service.
