Obituaries

James Carrington Cochran, Sr., 84, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was born April 2, 1940, in Anawalt, West Virginia, to the late Hattie Moore Cochran and Paul Earnest Cochran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ethel Denton Cochran; son, Robert Alan Cochran; sisters, Mary Sue Richardson (James), Fannie “Mick” Cochran, and Evelyn Ragan; and brothers, Paul “Dink” Cochran and Samuel Cochran.

James loved to work on anything and everything. He was an extremely hard worker who worked his whole life until he was unable. James even retired when he was 70 years old, got tired of not working, and ended up going back to work part-time.

He is survived by his son, James Cochran, Jr. (Kim); sister, Naomi Krisock (Bob); grandchildren, Kristi Nicole Collins, Toni Marie Noe (Eric), Mallory Cochran, and Adam Cochran; and great-grandchildren, Holly Jade Noe and Joseph Trey Collins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. The visitation will be held the night prior, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Wright Funeral Service. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 3410 Coal Heritage Park, Bluefield, West Virginia, 24701.
